On Friday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Barabanki Priyanka Singh Rawat found herself amidst much controversy when she insisted on carrying an unfolded knife after being repeatedly asked to not do so, Indian Express reported. Confirming the incident, OP Singh, DG, CISF - the one who looks after security at airports said that on discovering the knife, the security personnel informed the MP about the rules but she denied to remove it from her baggage and they ultimately had to call Air India duty manager to convince her.
Priyanka Singh Rawat, however, maintained that no such incident had taken place. She asserted that she had followed all the rules and that the staff had found a key ring in her bag and not a knife.
According to Indian Express sources, the BJP MP was taking flight 411 to Lucknow. The sources said that the MP refused to remove the knife from her baggage and said that it was her son's knife. She also said that she is an MP.

The sources said Priyanka Singh Rawat was asked to call someone and hand over the knife but when she refused to do that as well, she was asked to put it in check-in baggage but she did not agree to do that either.
The MP also threatened to file a FIR against the security personnel, revealed sources.
The BJP MP did not stop there and further insisted that if she cannot carry the knife, the aircraft crew carries it for her. It was only when the aircraft crew informed her that they weren't allowed to carry the knife in the flight either, she agreed to put it in the 'hold area'.
